It’s not just the fabulous golfing opportunities that draw the crowds into Scotland year after year! The Scottish calendar is packed with exciting annual events that have huge international followers and we thought it was time to bring these to your attention. From the Speyside Whisky Festival, held over the first long weekend in May for the fun-loving whisky enthusiasts, to the colourful Braemar Gathering, held on the first Saturday in September, there is sure to be something taking place when you plan to travel. So have a look below and see if there is anything you would like to include in your golf tour in 2018 to make it even more memorable!


Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival  3rd May – 7th May 2018

A great opportunity to mix up some whisky drinking and soak up the festivities as you travel on route to the Highlands. The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival invites visitors to celebrate Scotland’s national drink through an inventive and wide-ranging programme of whisky-inspired events.

Royal Highland Show, Edinburgh  21st June – 24th June 2018

One of the country’s premier agricultural shows which takes place annually and is an extravaganza of all things rural from shiny new combines to tree scaling demonstrations. With cookery demonstrations, equestrian & show jumping, livestock competitions, craft tents and countrywear and lifestyle exhibitors as well as forestry there is certainly something for everyone. The perfect start or end to a golf tour in Scotland!

Glamis Prom 2017, Angus – 25th August 2018

Stunning setting, fabulous food and excellent outdoor entertainment. All of this and more is what you can expect when you arrive in the grounds of one of the most enchanting castles in Scotland, home to the Earl & Countess of Strathmore.

Royal Military Tattoo, Edinburgh  3rd  August – 25th August 2018

The Tattoo’s unique ability to bring together thousands of people for this annual celebration of music and entertainment from around the globe continues and the public’s appetite for pomp and ceremony shows no sign of diminishing.

Braemar Gathering –  September 2018

Every Gathering is a memorable occasion and as always the Queen and her family will be in attandance. There are track events, and often international athletes take part. There is a hill race, Highland dancers, tug of war competitions and Scottish Pipe Bands feature prominently. This event is world famous for its friendship and hospitality.

Highland Millitary Tattoo, Fort George, Highlands – early to mid September

If you’ve already seen the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and it sent shivers down your spine, or you don’t want to pay the astronomical prices in Edinburgh in August then we suggest you add this spectacular event to your itinerary! This Tattoo showcases the best of Highland and military culture and traditions. Set against the stunning backdrop of Fort George, the largest military fort in the UK, it brings together top military performers, talented young local performers and some of the world’s finest re-enactors.
