Buggy Hire on Popular Golf Courses in Scotland

Most of the traditional links courses in Scotland were not built to accommodate golf carts and generally few offer the option to take a cart on the course. This is mainly from a health and safety perspective as the undulating fairways, deep cavernous bunkers and the close proximity to the water’s edge can make for an unsteady path! However, if you are unable to walk a full 18 holes for medical reasons then many courses do have a limited number of carts which can be taken by those golfers who can provide a medical certificate upon arrival. In this instance, a caddie driver may be required to drive the cart to ensure the safe navigation of the vehicle. AYRSHIRE

Dundonald – Pre book on 01294 314000 (10 buggies available) Price: £40

Prestwick – Due to the terrain, there are only 2 buggies available. Medical certificate is required and a caddie to drive the buggy. Book at Pro Shop on 01292 477404 Cost: £30

Royal Troon Limited availability of buggies. Book on 01292 311555. Cost £20

Turnberry Medical certificate must be presented/scanned to golf director before buggy is released. Pool of 10 available. Caddie driver required. Cost: Buggy £40 and Caddie £50 + tip.

Western Gailes 4 buggies available. Book on 01294 311649 £40

HIGHLANDS

Brora – Book buggies on (0) 1408 621417 and pay on day. Cost £25

Castle Stuart – Have 2 buggies and golfers need a medical certificate and caddie driver. Book on 01463 796127 Price: £25 + caddie fee

Nairn – Buggies only available to those with medical certificates and can be booked at Pro shop: Tel. 01667 453208 Cost: £35

Royal Dornoch – Medical certificate required. Book prior to arrival on 01862 810219. Cost: £35

ABERDEENSHIRE

Cruden Bay – NO BUGGIES DUE TO TERRAIN

Murcar – 1 buggy available. Medical certificate required. Tel. 01224 704354 Cost: £35

Royal Aberdeen – Have 2. Medical certificate is required and a caddie to drive the buggy. Book at Pro Shop 01224 702571. Cost: £25 for buggy and £45 + tip for caddie
Trump International – medical certificates required. GPS buggies and can be taken without a caddie for £25

FIFE, ANGUS & PERTHSHIRE

Carnoustie – Have 2 buggies but golfers need a disabled badge or medical certificate Disabled badge takes priority). No charge for buggy but must be caddie driven so caddie fee applies(approx. £70).

Crail – Book on 01333 450686 Price: £40

Elie – There are a limited number of buggies available for hire which are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis to those who would not otherwise be able to play golf. Before using a buggy at Elie, a golfer must produce a valid driving licence and must read and sign a Disclaimer Form. If you would like to reserve a buggy you can do this at the time of booking or by calling the Club on +44 (0)1333 330301.

Gleneagles – Buggies are only freely available on the PGA Championship Course unless golfer has a medical certificate. A caddie must drive the buggie on the King’s and Queen’s courses. Cost: £60 Book through Resort Sales on: Tel. 01764 662231

Kingsbarns – Buggies are only available to those with medical certificates and must be driven by a caddie. Book on 01334 460860. Cost: caddie fee only

St Andrews Links Trust – Buggies may be taken on the Castle, New, Jubilee, Strathtyrum, Balgove and Eden courses by seniors over the age of 65 or golfers with a medical certificate, subject to availability. Cost £30

Old – Golfers who are registered disabled with a permanent condition of disability may request a buggy for use on the Old Course. Available April to October only. Driven by a qualified caddie driver. Buggy is provided free but the appropriate caddie fee is payable. Disability documentation should be provided at booking or when entering the ballot. Request a buggy by email or call 01334 466718. Buggies are limited and subject to availability and suitable ground conditions.

EAST LOTHIAN

Dunbar – Book on 01368 862317 Price: £25/40

Gullane – 2 seater motorised buggies can be hired via the Pro Shop and early booking is advisable.
Permission via email from the Secretary is required for buggy hire between 1st November and 31st March. Please include details in the email of the reason for requesting use of the buggy.
The rate is £30 per round and £50 per day.
