An Introduction to Aberdeenshire

Introductions | Aberdeenshire

In February, the Drumgolf team travelled north to Aberdeenshire to check out several properties that we use. We were slightly cautious given the recent downturn in the oil industry in Aberdeen, but we needn’t have worried, The Chester looked as slick as ever with its chic and modern gastro pub style area down a level from reception. With plans to extend, it doesn’t appear that their corporate/golf/tourist clientele are going anywhere soon!

The Chester

Meldrum House in Oldmeldrum is stunning and timeless. The Whisky Vault Bar is particularly popular with Drumgolfers. Upstairs we found what we believe is the best value for money suites around. In stark contrast, the modern luxury of the recently built annexe with very smart Club rooms that overlook the golf course from huge windows surprised and delighted us!

These accommodations are within easy driving distance of the fine traditional links of Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay and Trump International, three challenging and scenic courses with spectacular views, within close enough vicinity to each other to enable 36 holes if desired. Aberdeenshire is stuffed full of Castles (Fyvie, Craigievar, Slains and of course Balmoral to name a few) for interesting sightseeing options.
