An Introduction to St Andrews

Introductions | St Andrews & Fife

St Andrews is without doubt in our minds home to the finest network of traditional links courses anywhere in the world. The Old Course is the obvious draw to this area but clients can find some attractive alternatives as the St Andrews Links Trust boasts seven courses which cater for the whole range of golfing abilities, the clifftop Castle Course being its latest addition and possibly the most challenging of the seven. There are numerous top Championship options within easy striking distance of the town, Kingsbarns being probably the most popular and panoramic.

The hotels range from five star (Old Course Hotel and the Fairmont) through to more affordable options such as the 3 star Scores Hotel located within a wedge of the 18th of the Old course. Countless guesthouses grace the streets of the ancient town. We love Old Fishergate whose location lends itself not only for the golf but also for the Castle and nearby Cathedral.

The Old Course Hotel

Just slightly out of town is the charming Rufflets Country House Hotel which provides great comfort in peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson have frequently made Rufflets their base on their numerous visits to the “Old Grey Toon”.

The sightseeing is varied and interesting with the likes of the charming East Neuk Fishing Villages and Falkland Palace.
